Now that it appears more and more likely that President Donald Trump is going to be forced to accept the results of this year’s election, he continues to prove to his supporters why we are going to miss him so much.
Specifically, we’re going to miss his dedication to the Constitution and especially the Second Amendment.
Trump has been the most gun-friendly president in generations, and he proved it again just this week.
The Washington Times has more:
Gun rights activists are claiming victory after the Trump administration withdrew new guidance that could have effectively outlawed stabilizing braces, which resemble gunstocks and attach to pistols to steady the shooters’ aim.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) had said the devices can transform pistols into short-barreled rifles subject to federal regulation and taxation — a perpetual fear of gun owners.
But after significant outcry from members of Congress and others, the agency withdrew its notice for public comment on the guidance less than a week after publishing it.

“Common sense prevailed,” Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) told The Washington Times. “This vague and subjective rule would have made criminals of thousands of law-abiding citizens overnight.”
He was one of 90 House Republicans who petitioned the White House to convince the president the rule change was bogus and unnecessary and a lot of other things (including, perhaps, unconstitutional).
As usual though, because it was a gun rights issue, it didn’t take much to persuade President Trump to deep-six the plan.
Also as usual, the bureaucrats at the ATF were trying to be too clever by half. The language of the rule was supposed to be ‘clear’ but in fact, gun rights groups noted that it was so vague (and probably intentionally so) that really the agency was looing for a way to ban the legally-purchased devices.
Erich Pratt, the senior vice president of Gun Owners of America, called dropping the rule a “great victory.”
Gun owners will have to stay vigilant, as no doubt, the ATF might try to reimpose similar regulations next year,” he said.
Of course, the agency will try and to that. In fact, earlier reports on some of the gun media sites (here and here) claim that members of Biden’s transition team have already reached out to the ATF to get a sense of the agency’s regulatory priorities – which will continue to include bans on the stabilizing braces.
One of those gun sites, Ammoland, noted that “there are currently multiple millions of pistol braces owned by law-abiding American gun owners.”
“ATF heads have wanted to go after pistol braces for years,” the site said, adding that 80 percent receivers are also a target of a federal agency.

Now, as for the extenders – so what? What does it matter if American gun enthusiasts put a folding stock on a short-barreled, military look-alike semi-auto or buy a longer one with a stock already attached? Seriously?
There is no difference.
The ATF shouldn’t be in the business of trying to regulate away Americans’ Second Amendment rights, but you better believe that’s going to be the agency’s principle mission if Joe Biden becomes president.
