Election officials in Arizona have found 182 cases of potential voter fraud out of more than 3 million ballots cast in the 2020 election, the Associated Press reported Friday.

The findings come amid a controversial “audit” being conducted in Maricopa County by a private firm, Cyber Ninjas. Commissioned by the state’s GOP-led state Senate, that review has been dismissed by experts as a partisan endeavor intended to substantiate former President Donald Trump’s claims that he won.

According to the AP, of the 182 potential cases of fraud, only four have had enough evidence for authorities to pursue charges. No one has been convicted.

President Joe Biden is said to have win Arizona by more than 10,000 votes.

“The fact of the matter is that election officials across the state are highly invested in helping to ensure the integrity of our elections and the public’s confidence in them,” Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, told the AP. “And part of that entails taking potential voter fraud seriously.”

On Friday, Arizona Democrats held a press conference to urge Attorney General Mark Brnovich, a Republican, to investigate claimsthat former President Trump and his allies violated state law by pressuring local elections officials to overturn Biden’s victory.

Wisconsin Assembly Speaker names special counsel to expand probe of 2020 election

Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos on Friday appointed a retired Supreme Court justice as special counsel to oversee an expanding investigation into the November 2020 elections in that battleground state.

Vos said former Justice Michael Gableman would have the resources and authority to conduct a “top-to-bottom investigation” after retired law enforcement officials who were hired part-time said they did not have enough resources to do the job.

“Many questions have been raised about the November election that expose weaknesses and faults in our current election system,” Voss said. “… To restore full integrity and trust in elections, we have decided to change direction, giving more authority and independence to Justice Gableman.”

Vos said the probe should be wrapped up in the fall and its goal was to “ensure there is confidence that every vote will be counted, and laws concerning future elections will be faithfully and uniformly followed.”

Final certified results declared Joe Biden defeated President Trump by about 20,600 votes, but since then Wisconsin’s Supreme Court ruled tens of thousands of absentee ballots may not have been lawfully cast because state officials improperly exempted the voters from ID requirements.

Pro-Trump groups raise $5.7 million for Arizona election audit efforts

The groups are being led by individuals including Michael Flynn, Sidney Powell, and OANN correspondents
Groups connected to supporters of former President Trump have raised over $5.7 million for the 2020 presidential election audit in Arizona’s Maricopa County, according to the firm conducting the audit.

Doug Logan, CEO of Cyber Ninjas, the Florida-based firm hired by the GOP-led by the Arizona state Senate to lead the audit, late Wednesday announced the backers of the effort.

The state Senate Republicans who commissioned the audit contributed $150,000, according to the Associated Press.
Leading the donor pool is The America Project, a group led by Patrick Byrne, a former CEO of Overstock.com. The group has so far contributed $3.25 million.

Former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn is listed as the chairman of America’s Future, a group that has contributed nearly $1 million to the audit effort.
One America News Network correspondents Christina Bobb and Chanel Rion are leading Voices and Votes, a group that has contributed $605,000, and former Trump attorney Sidney Powell is spearheading Defending the Republic, which gave $550,000.
Election Integrity Funds for the American Republic, which is being led by attorney Matthew DePerno, has given $280,000.
Logan says that in addition to funds, some of the groups have provided operational support and “advice pivotal in executing the audit.”
The fundraising disclosure arrived alongside an announcement from the audit team this week that it has completed its third count of the roughly 2.1 million Maricopa County ballots and will now transfer collected data to audit labs for analysis.

Enforcement of Arizona Senate’s Maricopa subpoena ‘unlikely’ with reported GOP holdout

County failed to comply with first Senate subpoena; “critical” routers still remain unavailable to auditors.

The enforcement of the Arizona Senate’s second subpoena of election materials from the state’s Maricopa County depends upon achieving a majority vote in the chamber that one Republican senator says is “unlikely” due to a reported GOP holdout.

State Senate Republicans this week issued a fresh subpoena to the county, demanding a fresh wave of documents related to the 2020 election there as an ongoing forensic audit of results approaches a conclusion.

Key among the requested materials from the second subpoena are routers used by Maricopa County to handle data processing from multiple county departments, including some related to elections. Those routers have been at the center of a months-long battle between Maricopa officials and Senate-commissioned auditors. The county has insisted that the security risks of handing the routers over is too high, while auditors have argued that it is “critically important” to obtain them to ensure a thorough audit.

Whether or not the county will comply with the second subpoena is unclear. Also unclear is whether or not the state Senate will enforce the subpoena.

State Sen. Kelly Townsend says the enforcement of the order depends upon a unified GOP vote in the chamber, which she claimed is presently just out of reach.

“The only way we are allowed to enforce the subpoena is to be in session and take a vote as the entire Senate body who holds the Board of Supervisors in contempt, and we need a majority of 16 to pass,” she told Just the News on Tuesday. “We only have 15 votes, so it’s unlikely we will be able to enforce this subpoena, either.”

“The dissenting vote is Sen. Paul Boyer,” she added.

Boyer did not respond to requests for comment from Just the News. Earlier this year he was the lone Republican in the state Senate to vote against holding the Maricopa Board of Supervisors in contempt.

State statute delcares that “if a witness neglects or refuses to obey a legislative subpoena … the senate or the house may, by resolution entered in the journal, commit him for contempt.” Individuals who are “neglecting or refusing to attend in obedience to a subpoena maybe arrested by the sergeant-at-arms and brought before the senate or house,” the statute continues.

The audit has been among the most visible and contentious of the Republican-led investigations into the 2020 election since last November.

State-level GOP representatives in the months since the election have spearheaded efforts to examine and assess the U.S. election system due to concerns about security vulnerabilities in the voting process.

Democrats and commentators have dismissed the efforts as conspiracy theory-motivated witch hunts. Multiple inquiries, meanwhile, have led to mounting calls for certain key reforms of state-level election practices.

The Michigan legislature, for instance, concluded earlier this year that though the state was not wracked by voter fraud in the November election, the practice of mailing unsolicited absentee ballots — a measure undertaken last year by many election officials, including the Michigan Secretary of State — posed “a clear vulnerability for fraud that may be undetected.”

Audit documents from Georgia, meanwhile, exposed what appeared to be, at the very least, significant election data management failures from Fulton County, notorious throughout Georgia for its poor management of elections.

Fulton has also been a source of controversy due to the ongoing mystery of its handling of absentee ballots on election night, when ballot workers at the county’s State Farm Arena appeared to be dismissed early from their posts, after which a skeleton crew of workers stayed behind to scan ballots largely unsupervised.
